Reynolds Set for 'Proposal'
Ryan Reynolds ("Just Friends") is in final talks to star with Sandra Bullock in "The Proposal" (Feb. 13, 2009), reports Variety. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman will produce, and Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will executive produce. Peter Chiarelli, president of Kurtzman and Orci's production suite, wrote the script, in which a businesswoman agrees to a sham engagement and marriage with her young assistant in the face of likely deportation to Canada.
Diaz to Star in 'Keeper'
Cameron Diaz will star in Nick Cassevetes' "My Sister's Keeper" (2008), an adaptation of Jodi Picoult's novel about a former attorney back in the courtroom to defend herself and her husband against a daughter's emancipation lawsuit, reports Variety. Jeremy Leven ("The Notebook") wrote the script for New Line Cinema. Mark Johnson will produce. Production will start early next year.
Franklin to Direct 'Snitch'
Carl Franklin ("Devil in a Blue Dress," "Out of Time") will direct "Snitch," in which a father infiltrates an underground drug ring to save his son from incrimination, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Justin Haythe wrote the script, a dramatization of true events and the subject of a recent "Frontline" exposé. Guy East and Nigel Sinclair will produce with David Fanning (PBS' "Frontline") for New Line Cinema, and Haythe will executive produce.
