The Bulletin: Del Toro to Howl at the Moon

Mark Romenek ("One Hour Photo") will direct a period remake of George Waggner's "The Wolf Man" (1941) with Benicio Del Toro to star as Lon Chaney Jr.'s classic horror icon, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Scott Stuber, Mary Parent, Rick Yorn and Del Toro will produce. Andrew Kevin Walker ("Sleepy Hollow," "Se7en") wrote the script. Production begins in the fall.

High Five! "Borat" to Make Glorious Baby
Sacha Baron Cohen is in preliminary discussions to co-write and star in a sequel to "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" for 20th Century Fox, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Cohen will next star as Bruno, the homosexual fashionista of "Da Ali G Show," in a film for Universal Pictures. "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" was a phenomenal hit, with receipts of $248 million worldwide.

"Toy Story 3" Will Launch in 2010
Woody and Buzz Lightyear will recharge the old batteries for a "Toy Story 3," but John Lasseter ("Toy Story," "Toy Story 2," "Cars") won't be the director, reports Variety. Lee Unkrich, co-director of "Toy Story 2," "Monsters Inc." and "Finding Nemo," will direct, with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen's return to voice Woody and Buzz. Michael Arndt ("Little Miss Sunshine") will write the script. "The greatest thing about the merger of [Walt Disney and Pixar] is that the creators of 'Toy Story' ... can make ['Toy Story 3'] with the story that we wanted," Lasseter said, in response to Walt Disney's original ploy to produce "Toy Story 3" autonomously prior to a merger with Pixar. "Toy Story 3" will open in theaters in 2010.

Shankman's Ready for "Bedtime"
An architect's lavish bedtime stories to his niece and nephew strangely come true in "Bedtime Stories," a comedy Adam Shankman ("Cheaper By The Dozen 2," "Bringing Down The House") will direct for Walt Disney Pictures, reports Variety. Matt Lopez wrote the script. Andrew Gunn will produce, and Shankman, Gibgot and Ann Marie Sanderlin will executive produce. Production on "Bedtime Stories" will begin in August.

Levinson on the Western Frontier
Barry Levinson ("Rain Man," "Wag the Dog") is in negotiations to direct "Boone's Lick," an adaptation of Larry McMurtry's novel about a family's perilous migration from Boone's Lick, Mo., to the Western frontier, with Tom Hanks and Julianne Moore to star, reports Production Weekly. McMurthy and Diana Ossana ("Brokeback Mountain") will adapt the novel. Production will begin in August.

The Wait is Ogre, "Shrek The Third" Trailer
Moviefone has the new trailer for "Shrek The Third" (May 18). "Happily ever after," sadly for newlyweds Shrek and Princess Fiona, is not the end. In "Shrek the Third," King Harold of Far, Far Away falls ill, and Shrek recruits Donkey and Puss-In-Boots on a quest to unearth a rightful heir to the throne, as the surly green ogre doesn't aspire to vacate his cozy swamp for the crown.

Beckinsale Gets Lost in "Whiteout"
Kate Beckinsale will star in "Whiteout," an action thriller about a U.S. marshal in pursuit of a murderer in an Antarctica on the cusp of the perpetual darkness of winter, for director Dominic Sena ("Swordfish"), reports The Hollywood Reporter. Jon and Erich Hoeber wrote the adaptation of Greg Rucka's 1999 comic series. Production will begin in March.
