Scott Derrickson ("The Exorcism of Emily Rose") will pilot a remake of Robert Wise's 1951 classic "The Day The Earth Stood Still" (May 9, 2008) at 20th Century Fox, reports Hollywood North Report. Production begins in Vancouver in November.
Todd, Meet "The Chadster"
Todd Phillips ("Old School") will produce and possibly direct "The Chadster," in which a best man reluctantly reunites with an troublesome childhood pest at a wedding, reports Variety. Michael Samonek will write the script, and Scott Budnick will executive produce for Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment.
Binder to Adapt 'Knitting Club'
Mike Binder ("Reign Over Me") will adapt Kate Jacob's novel "The Friday Night Knitting Club," in which a single mother balances the demands of her knitting boutique and the needs of her teenage daughter, for Universal Pictures, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Christine Peters will produce, and Julia Roberts will produce and star. No word yet on a director.
