Kelly to Finish 'Tales' for Release
Richard Kelly ("Donnie Darko") will finish the long overdue "Southland Tales," an epic post-apocalyptic conspiracy thriller with Sarah Michelle Gellar, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Seann William Scott, with financial support for additional visual effects. "We will now be able to finish the film properly," Kelly told a source with Rotten Tomatoes. Reception of an early cut at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2006 was highly unfavorable, with Andrew O'Hehir of Salon.com saying the Cannes cut was "about the biggest, ugliest mess I've ever seen."
