Docter's Next at Pixar: "Up"
Pete Docter ("Monsters, Inc."), with animation veteran Bob Peterson, will direct Pixar's "Up" (2009), a coming-of-old-age tale in which a curmudgeon befriends a clueless wilderness ranger in a war with monsters, reports Variety.
Leoni Visits 'Ghost Town'
Tea Leoni ("Spanglish") will star with Ricky Gervais and Greg Kinnear in David Koepp's "Ghost Town," a comedy in which a misanthropic dentist reluctantly assists a dead businessman in the sabotage of his widow's imminent nuptials, reports Variety. Gavin Palone will produce for Paramount Pictures, with production to begin in New York in October.
Campbell to Direct 'Unstoppable'
Martin Campbell ("Casino Royale," "The Legend of Zorro") is in talks to direct "Unstoppable," a thriller in which an engineer attempts to impede a runaway train with toxic chemicals and prevent the decimation of a town, at 20th Century Fox, reports Variety. Mark Bomback ("Live Free or Die Hard") wrote the script. Julie Yorn will produce with Mimi Rogers. Chris Ciaffa will executive produce.
Zwart to Direct 'Panther 2'
Harald Zwart ("Agent Cody Banks") will direct "The Pink Panther 2," reports The Hollywood Reporter. Steve Martin will reprise the role of Inspector Jacques Clouseau. Scott Neustadler and Michael Weber wrote the script. Robert Simonds will produce, and Shawn Levy ("The Pink Panther," "Night at the Museum") will executive produce.
Murray to Inhabit 'Ember'
Bill Murray will star in "City of Ember" (Oct. 10, 2008), an adaptation of Jeanne DuPrau's novel about two adolescents' search for clues to the mysteries of an ancient metropoli under a shroud of darkness, reports Variety. Caroline Thompson wrote the script. Gil Kenan ("Monster House") will direct, and Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman will produce. John D. Scholfield will executive produce.
