The Bulletin: Hood Slices Into 'Wolverine'

South African Gavin Hood ("Tsotsi," October's "Rendition") will direct Hugh Jackman in "Wolverine" (2008), reports Variety. David Benioff ("The 25th Hour") wrote the script. "I have long been a fan of Gavin's work and know he will make a masterful film with the character intensity and action beats the fans expect," Jackman told Variety. Lauren Shuler-Donner, John Palermo and Jackman will produce. Production will start in November. Hood won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for "Tsotsi" in 2005.

Rogen to Adapt 'Green Hornet'
Seth Rogen (“Knocked Up,” “Superbad”) will write a comic adaptation of “The Green Hornet,” George W. Trendle and Fran Striker’s classic debonair avenger of American radio, television, serials and comics, with Evan Goldberg for Columbia Pictures, reports Variety. Rogen will likely star as Britt Reid, the playboy and, at night, crusader for justice, as Stephen Chow (“Kung Fu Hustle”) is Rogen's choice to star as Kato, Reid’s agile sidekick and chauffeur. Rogen and Goldberg will executive produce, and Neal H. Moritz (“The Fast and the Furious”) and Ori Marmur of Original Film will produce. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to be developing this world renowned property with the people who brought Spider-Man to the screen. I can’t imagine a studio better equipped or more prepared to handle this kind of material than Sony. With the radio show, television program, comic books, and novels, there is ample source material to bring this classic crime-fighter to life,” Moritz told Variety.
