Wolfe to Direct 'Leaves' With Foxx
George C. Wolfe ("Lackawanna Blues") will direct "Blood on the Leaves," an adaptation of Jeffrey Stetson's novel in which a district attorney prosecutes a black professor on trial for the murders of white racists, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Jamie Foxx will star, and Marcus King, Jaime Rucker King and Foxx will produce.

Roundtree Races Toward 'Speed'
Richard Roundtree ("Shaft") will star as commentator Ben Burns in Andy and Larry Wachowski's "Speed Racer" (May 9, 2008), an adaptation of Tatsuo Yoshida's cult anime of the 1960s, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Roundtree joins Emile Hirsch as Speed, Christina Ricci as Trixie, John Goodman and Susan Sarandon as Mom and Pops Racer, and Matthew Fox as Racer X.

Allen to Start Next Production
At a press conference Monday in Barcelona, Woody Allen told reporters his next picture will start production July 9 with Scarlett Johansson, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Patricia Clarkson, Kevin Dunn and Chris Messina to star, reports Variety. "I hope I can present Barcelona to the world as I see it, the same way I presented Manhattan to the world as I saw it with my eyes," said Allen. "I want to write a love letter to Barcelona and from Barcelona to the world." As for the title or subject, as usual with Allen, all secret.
