New Line Cinema will collaborate with HBO to finance and distribute a film adaptation of Darren Star's "Sex and the City," reports Variety. Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis will star and Michael Patrick King, executive producer of the television show, wrote the script and will direct. King will produce with Parker, John Melfi and Star. Production is said to start in a couple of months in New York City.
Zemeckis, Carrey to Retell 'Carol'
Robert Zemeckis ("The Polar Express," "Back to the Future") will direct a remake of "A Christmas Carol" with Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge, The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, and Bob Hoskins ("Who Framed Roger Rabbit") as Mr. Fezziwig, reports Empire Online. Zemeckis will retell the classic tale with computer animation technology and motion capture techniques similar to "The Polar Express" and November's "Beowulf" (Nov. 16).
