Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston will star in "Marley & Me," an adaptation of columnist John Grogan's memoir about an incorrigible but indispensable canine, reports Variety. David Frankel ("The Devil Wears Prada") will direct for 20th Century Fox. Scott Frank ("Minority Report") wrote the script. Production will start next year with Gil Netter and Karen Rosenfelt as producers.
Foxx Overboard for Oscar Bait
Jamie Foxx will star in "The Soloist" as Nathaniel Ayers, a homeless, schizophrenic musical prodigy (yep), reports Variety. Joe Wright ("Pride & Prejudice") will direct. Susannah Grant ("Catch & Release," "Erin Brockovich") wrote the script, in which Steve Lopez, a Los Angeles Times journalist develops a relationship with Ayers. Lopez's column is the basis for the script. Gary Foster and Russ Krasnoff will produce, Rikki Bestall will co-produce and Tim Bevan will executive produce. Production will start in January in Los Angeles.
