In the hospital in the wake of a suicide attempt, Owen Wilson will bail out of "Tropic Thunder" (July 11, 2008), Ben Stiller's comedy about five actors haphazardly caught in the crossfire of a real war while on the location shoot of a bombastic war epic, reports Variety. Stiller stars, directs and produces, with Stuart Cornfeld, for DreamWorks. Wilson was to star as an actor under fire. Nick Nolte, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., Brandon Jackson, Steve Coogan, Jay Baruchel, Matt Levin, Andrea De Oliveira and Danny McBride co-star. "Tropic Thunder" is currently in production in Hawaii.
The Rock Climbs 'Mountain'
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is in talks to star in "Witch Mountain," in which a Las Vegas cab driver picks up a pair of siblings with magical powers, reports Variety. Andy Fickman (September's "The Game Plan") will direct for Walt Disney Pictures. Andrew Gunn will produce, and Ann Marie Sanderlin will executive produce. Matt Lopez wrote the a recent draft of the script. Production will start in March.
Affleck is 'Not that Into You'
Ben Affleck is in talks to star in "He's Just Not That Into You," an adaptation of Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo's relationship book, reports Variety. Ken Kwapis ("License to Wed") will direct. Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen will produce for New Line Cinema. Affleck joins Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connelly, Kevin Connolly, Bradley Cooper, Justin Long, Ginnifer Goodwin and Barrymore. Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein ("Never Been Kissed") wrote the script, a collection of vignettes about personal communication and behavior. Production will star in September in Los Angeles.
