McConaughey Joins 'Tropic Thunder'
Matthew McConaughey will substitute for Owen Wilson in "Tropic Thunder" (July 11, 2008), Ben Stiller's comedy about five actors haphazardly caught in the crossfire of a real war while on the location shoot of a bombastic war epic, reports Variety. Stiller stars, directs and produces, with Stuart Cornfeld, for DreamWorks. Wilson was to star as an actor under fire until the actor's hospitization in the wake of a suicide attempt. Nick Nolte, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., Brandon Jackson, Steve Coogan, Jay Baruchel, Matt Levin, Andrea De Oliveira and Danny McBride co-star. "Tropic Thunder" is currently in production in Hawaii.

'The Road' To Come
Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban will produce an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's apocalyptic novel "The Road," reports The Hollywood Reporter, with Viggo Mortensen ("Eastern Promises") possibly to star. Dimension Films is in final negotiations to distribute "The Road" in North America. John Hillcoat ("The Proposition") will direct. Joe Penhall wrote the script. Marc Butan, Wagner and Cuban will executive produce, and Nick Wechsler, Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz will produce. Production will start in January.

The Woodstock Film Festival Schedule Available
The schedule for the 2007 Woodstock Film Festival, Wednesday, Oct. 10, to Sunday, Oct. 14, is available at the official site. James C. Strouse's "Grace is Gone," Terry George's "Reservation Road," Todd Hayne's "I'm Not There" and Julian Schnabel's "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" will screen at the festival with about 100 other independent productions.
