Mark Ruffalo as Investigator in Scorsese's "Shutter Island"

Mark Ruffalo will star with Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island," an adaptation of Dennis Lehane's novel, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Ruffalo is cast as U.S. Marshal Chuck Aule, sent to an eponymous Massachusetts island with his new partner in 1954 to investigate the disappearence of a patient from a mental hospital. Laeta Kalogridis wrote the script. Mike Medavoy, Arnold Messer, Brad Fischer and Scorsese will produce. Lehane, Kalogridis and Louis Phillips will executive produce. Production will start in March.
