Ang Lee's latest, "Lust, Caution" (Sept. 28), will be NC-17 upon release, and distributor Focus Features accepts the MPAA's judgment. "As with so many of his previous films, Oscar-winning director Ang Lee has crafted a masterpiece about and for grown-ups," Focus Features' James Schamus said. "Lust, Caution" is said to depict extensive and vigorous sexual content. Finally, content for adults bests, for once, an endless surfeit of juvenile garbage ("Transformers," "Live Free or Die Hard," "Wild Hogs," "300"). I support NC-17. "Lust, Caution," an adaptation of Eileen Chang's short story, is an erotic espionage thriller with Tony Leung of Wong Kar-Wai’s “In The Mood For Love” as a powerful Chinese politician in a dangerous romance with a young student (Tang Wei) in World War II Shanghai.
Thomas to Direct 'Dallas'
Betty Thomas ("Doctor Dolittle," "Private Parts," "The Brady Bunch Movie") will direct "Dallas," a comedic version of the TV soap opera (1978-1991) about a wealthy clan in Texas, reports Variety. John Travolta will star as J.R. Ewing, the slimy patriarch and oil tycoon. Pam Brady will write the script. Production will start in January.
Dwight Schrute to Write, Star in 'Renaissance Men'
Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute on TV's "The Office") will write "Renaissance Men" with Matt Ross ("Big Love"), reports The Hollywood Reporter. Wilson will star as an actor in community theater on the run at a Renaissance fair for a dubious murder. Jay Roach ("Meet the Parents") will produce with Wilson for Universal.
