Joseph Kosinski will direct "Logan's Run," an update of Michael Anderson's 1976 dystopian thriller, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Tim Sexton will write the script. Joel Silver ("The Invasion," "The Matrix") will produce for Warner Bros. As for the original's premise: Sometime in the 23rd century, the survivors of war, overpopulation and pollution repopulate in a hedonistic vault with one unpleasant caveat: Life ends at the age of 30. To avoid certain death, Logan 5 (Michael York) and Jessica 6 (Jenny Agutter) escape the deceptively utopian metropolis for Sanctuary with the government’s obedient Francis 7 (Richard Jordan) in hot pursuit. The update will closer resemble William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson's 1967 novel than the film. "Logan's Run" will be Kosinski's directorial debut.
Rob Marshall's 'Nine' Cast
The Weinstein Company is in talks with Penelopé Cruz, Marion Cotillard (Edith Piaf in "La Vie En Rose"), Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sophia Loren and Javier Bardem to star in "Nine," Rob Marshall's adaptation of the Broadway musical version of Federico Fellini's "8½," reports Variety. Michael Tolkin ("The Player," "The Rapture") will write the script. In "Nine," famous film auteur Guido Contini must contend with all the women of his life — his wife, mistress, muse , agent and mother — in the midst of a creative and personal crisis. Weinstein and Marshall wish to cast Bardem as Contini, Cruz as his mistress, Loren as his mother, Cotillard as his wife and Catherine Zeta-Jones as his muse. Raul Julia and Chita Rivera were stars in the original production in the 1980s, with Tommy Tune as director, Thommie Walsh as choreographer and Maury Yeston as composer and lyricist. Antonio Banderas was cast as Contini in the recent revival. Yeston and Kopit will co-executive produce. John DeLuca will produce and choreograph with Marshall.

Seth Gordon ("The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters") will direct "Four Christmases" (2008), a comedy in which a couple struggles to visit all four parents of divorce on Christmas Day, reports Variety. Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon will star. Matt Allen and Caleb Wilson wrote the script. Gary Barber, Roger Birnbaum and Jonathan Glickman will produce with Vaughn and Witherspoon for New Line Cinema. Production will start in December.
