David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will return as FBI special agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, respectively, in "The X-Files 2" (July 25, 2008), reports Variety. Chris Carter, the mastermind of the series, will direct. Carter and Frank Spotnitz wrote the script, said to be independent of the series. Production will start in December in Vancouver.
Streep, Adams as 'Julie & Julia'
Meryl Streep will star as famous chef Julia Child in "Julie & Julia," an adaptation of Julie Powell's book "Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen," reports Variety. Amy Adams ("Junebug") will co-star as Powell, a secretary on a culinary quest to cook all 524 recipes in Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking." Nora Ephron ("Sleepless in Seattle") will write the script and is in talks to direct.
Roberts, Owen to Star in 'Duplicity'
Julia Roberts and Clive Owen will star in "Duplicity," in which spies unite to stage an elaborate con to fraud corporations out of a valuable asset, reports Variety. Tony Gilroy ("Michael Clayton") will direct. Gilroy wrote the script. Jennifer Fox will produce with Laura Bickford. Production will start in March.
Worthington in Talks for 'G.I. Joe'
Sam Worthington (James Cameron's "Avatar") is in talks to star in "G.I. Joe," an adaptation of Hasbro's popular line of toys, reports Variety. Stephen Sommers ("Van Helsing") will direct. Stuart Beattie ("Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl") wrote the script. Production will start in February.
Penn, Moore and Ryder in 'Pippa Lee'
Robin Wright Penn, Julianne Moore and Wynona Ryder will star in "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee," an adaptation of Rebecca Miller's novel about a dutiful wife's nervous breakdown upon word of her husband's infidelity, reports Variety. Miller ("The Ballad of Jack and Rose," "Personal Velocity") will direct. Production will start in April in Connecticut.
Vanderbilt to Script 'Spider-Man 4'
James Vanderbilt ("Zodiac," "The Rundown") will write a script for "Spider-Man 4" for Columbia Pictures, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Laura Ziskin will return to produce, but the involvement of Sam Raimi, as director, and stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst remains uncertain.

The awful trailer for Timur Bekmambetov's "Wanted" (Mar. 28, 2008), an adaptation of Mark Miller and J.G. Jones' comic with James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman, is available to view at the official site.
