Cusack, Li Travel to "Shanghai"

John Cusack is in talks with The Weinstein Company to star with Gong Li in "Shanghai," a period piece Mikael Hafström ("1408") will direct, reports Variety. Hossein Amini will write the script, in which an American returns to Shanghai, in occupation of the Japanese, to unravel a murder mystery. Mike Medavoy and Barry Mendel will produce, with Arnie Messer as executive producer.
